From beloved children's author and philanthropist, to a spokeswoman of violent anti-trans hatespeak?

There may be no woman more well-known for being a "transphobe" than JK Rowling, whose tweets about the erasure of the word "Woman" in articles about female health. Seemingly overnight, she fell from a liberal philanthropic hero to a hateful transphobe, or TERF. She addressed the accusations in a thorough essay, found here, in which she carefully explains her opinion and expresses empathy for those offended by her perspective. Despite this, harassment on social media and in real life have continued, with calls to cancel anything she is involved with on the basis of her transphobia. To listen to the entire story in her words (including interviews with detractors), click below.
